Attendance Matters

Make Attendance A Priority

School attendance is important to your child’s success. Keep your children home from school if they are too ill to participate. These tips can help you decide when they should attend school or stay home.

Send Your Child To School If …

  • Your child has allergy symptoms like clear nasal drainage or a dry cough.
  • Your child’s asthma or allergy symptoms, like coughing and shortness of breath, are at normal levels.
  • The rash on your child has fully healed and is no longer contagious.

Keep Your Child At Home If …

  • Your child has a fever, develops a new rash, or has thrown up more than twice in the past 24 hours.
  • Your child has diarrhea that is uncontrolled, bloody, or involves more than two bowel movements beyond normal.
  • Your child has skin sores that are draining fluid and cannot be covered with clothing or a bandage.
