National Board Certification was designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improement in schools nationwide. It is the most respected professional certification available in K-12 education. Grounded in the National Board Standards, the National Board Five Core Propositions describe what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do to have a positive impact on student learning. National Board Certification identifies teachers who meet those standards through a performance based, peer-reviewed series of assessment components.
The Tolleson Elementary School District is committed to supporting teachers seeking National Board Certification by providing available funds for certification at different levels. TESD has several National Board candidates in TESD this year, and will be joining the over 112,000 NBC teachers across the United States and 1,213 in the state of Arizona.
