Every Day Counts at Tolleson ESD

At Tolleson Elementary School District, we believe strong attendance builds strong futures. When students miss school, they miss valuable opportunities to learn, connect, and grow. That is why we have launched our attendance campaign:

“2 Days is Too Much”

Missing just 2 days of school a month adds up to 18 days in a year—that is nearly a full month of lost learning. Attendance is more than just showing up; it is the foundation for student success.

Why Attendance Matters

  • Students who attend school regularly are more likely to read at grade level, graduate on time, and succeed in life.

  • Even excused absences add up—every day of instruction matters.

  • Good attendance helps students build routines, friendships, and confidence.

What Happens When My Child Misses School?

How To Help Your Child

  • Set a regular bedtime and morning routine.
  • Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
  • Keep your child healthy and make sure your child has the required shots.
  • Introduce your children to their teachers and classmates before school starts.
  • Develop backup plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.
  • Try to schedule non-urgent related medical appointments and extended trips when school isn’t in session.
  • If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors and other parents for advice on how to make your child feel comfortable and excited about learning.
  • If your child must stay home due to illness, ask the teacher for resources and ideas to continue learning at home.

Our Commitment

Tolleson ESD is committed to working alongside families to ensure every child is present, prepared, and thriving. Together, we can make sure our students do not just attend school—they belong and succeed.

Because when it comes to learning… 2 days is too much.
