She was also an instructional coach for three years at Monte Vista Elementary School (2011-2013). Ms. Boston holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a Bilingual Endorsement degree, a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Masters of Educational Administration and Supervision from Arizona State University. She was actively involved with the ASU Hispanic Mother-Daughter Program (HMDP) as a first-generation college student and graduated with honors as a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Society. Her passion for continual professional growth is reflected on her current participation in a partnership with ASU called iTeach ELLs. Through this partnership Ms. Boston is able to bring back current research based strategies and structures to support student achievement.
As the Principal of Sheely Farms Elementary School, Ms. Boston’s educational experiences have afforded her the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of colleagues to meet the common goal of increasing student achievement and well-being of all learners. Her strong instructional background and community style, has allowed her the ability to form and maintain solid relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members within the Sheely Farms community.
She is committed to the Kids at Hope philosophy “All Children Are Capable of Success, No Exceptions!” through building a community that believes, educates, motivates and prepares all children. One of her top responsibilities and missions is to establish a positive learning environment at her school to ensure that the staff is trained and utilizing Positive Behavior Interventions Supports (PBIS) to create #SheelyPride on her campus. Students and staff recite the mission daily and know that Sheely PRIDE (Purpose, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Effort) will be expected daily.
Personally, Ms. Boston is a resident of south Phoenix, married and mother of two children and one fur baby. She enjoys spending time with her family, early mornings at her local gym, and volunteering her time to serve the community. In fact, you might see Ms. Boston and her family Christmas morning handing out gifts to those that cannot afford a present otherwise. She and her husband shop all year in order to provide presents to the underprivileged along with hots dogs and chips until the last dog is handed out.
Ms. Boston was recognized by the Arizona Association of Latino School Administrators and Superintendents (formerly Arizona Hispanic School Administrators Association) as “Leaders of Tomorrow” in 2013.
