Dear Tolleson Elementary School District Parents, Guardians and Families,

On October 19, 2020 TESD students began a hybrid learning model.  Students can attend school in person or learn from home following the Distance Learning Plan approved by the Arizona Department of Education.  Please know this decision was made with great thought as the District continues to monitor COVID-19 data, listen to expert advice from physicians and review updated information from the Center for Disease Control, Maricopa County Health Department, Arizona Department of Education and the Arizona Department of Health Services.

In order to ensure the implementation of strict health and safety protocols in all of schools, TESD has worked with HealthyVerify to ensure we are taking smart steps to reduce the risk of transmitting infectious disease.  We are excited to announce that our schools met the criteria to become HealthyVerify certified and understand that this will help keep our community as safe as possible.

We have been pleased with the safety measures put in place on each campus, including but not limited to, temperature checks for all students and staff, mandatory face covering requirements and handwashing/hand sanitizing throughout the school day.  Families can help keep our students and staff safe by sending your student to school daily with a clean mask, keeping your child home if they exhibit any COVID symptoms or have been exposed to an individual with a confirmed case of COVID and communicating this information with school sites.  We are hoping that with everyone doing their part to ensure safety, we will be able to reduce the number of coronavirus cases in our community.

Tolleson Elementary School District will continue to work closely with health officials to determine if hybrid learning, students in-person and distance learning or all distance learning will take place at each of our schools.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Lupita Hightower

    Superintendent
