Kinder Enrollment

Tolleson ESD proudly offers free full-day kindergarten programs designed to help our youngest treasures build confidence, friendships, and foundational learning skills.

We Welcome All Students - No Boundary Limits

Our school district spans from the west side of Phoenix across the City of Tolleson (from 83rd Avenue to 107th Avenue) and from Thomas Road on the north to Buckeye Road on the south.

Open enrollment allows Arizona students to attend public schools outside their attendance areas or their districts based on capacity. If no excess capacity exists, we will place you on a waiting list and inform you when space is available. The school may reject an open enrollment if the student has been or is in the process of being expelled from another school district or educational institution.

Tolleson Elementary School District has reviewed the capacity and determined excess capacity based on the chart provided.

Schools will accept pupils throughout the school year as capacity allows. Pupils who are denied access due to capacity shall be informed that they are on a waitlist and will be notified when an opening occurs at the desired school site.

All schools shall continue to give open enrollment preference to and reserve capacity to pupils who meet one or more of the following criteria:

Resident pupils
Pupils returning to school from the prior year
Siblings of pupils already enrolled

All schools may give open enrollment preference to and reserve capacity for children who:

Are in foster care
Meet the definition of unaccompanied youth prescribed in the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (P.L. 100-77; 101 Stat. 482; 42 United States Code Section 11434a)
Attend a school that is closing
Pupils who are children of persons who are employed by the school or the district

Please note the following:

Capacity estimates for kindergarten through eighth grade will be made available to the public by the beginning of each quarter on our school websites.
Open enrollment will be approved based on capacity at a school site and capacity in a special program in which a student may be enrolled.
If a school remains open as part of a boundary change and capacity is available, students assigned to a new attendance area may stay enrolled in their current school.

Our Welcome Center offers numerous support and services for our students and families in addition to enrolling students in all of our schools.

Is Your Child Ready To Enroll For Early Kinder?

Ready to Enroll? Here is What You Will Need

To enroll your child at one of our schools, please plan to bring the following documentation with you to our Welcome Center. We are happy to make copies in our office.

Official birth certificate
Legal guardianship documents (if applicable)
Current immunization record
Proof of address with parent/guardian name (For example, you can bring a current utility bill, rental agreement/mortgage statement, etc.)
Withdrawal form and report card from the previous school (if applicable)
Individualized Education Plan (IEP) if your child requires special services

Uniform Policy

Creating a Focused and Equitable Learning Environment

At Tolleson Elementary School District, we believe school uniforms help promote a sense of community, reduce distractions, and support an equitable learning environment for all of our students.

Uniforms are required at all of our schools.

Student uniforms are available for purchase at a low cost through our Welcome Center. Families who qualify for additional assistance may contact the Welcome Center to learn more about available support.
