Letter to the Community - July 22, 2024

Dear Tolleson ESD Families & Community,

I am looking forward to kicking off the 2024–2025 school year on Wednesday, July 31. I hope you and your children are too. As we look to that first day of school, here are some back-to-school tips I find helpful to get back on schedule for school:

  • Begin adjusting to earlier bedtimes and wake-up times.
  • If your meal times or nutritional habits changed over the summer break, begin returning to a school year schedule and habits.
  • Plan your schedule for school days together.
  • Discuss your child’s feelings about returning to school and your positivity for the new school year. Each year provides the opportunity to start fresh and to let go of past behaviors that didn’t serve us well and to reinforce those behaviors that work well for a successful school year.
  • Attend meet the teacher night on Monday, July 29 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. This is a great first opportunity to start the school year off engaged in your child’s learning. This aligns with one of our strategic plan priority goals for the school year - Intentionally engage parents and caregivers in all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Stress the importance of arriving on time at school the first day and every day. Attendance is so important to ensuring we achieve our core belief All Children are Capable of Success–No Exceptions!

Just a reminder our Welcome Center is open for enrollment questions you may have, and our district social worker and community and family engagement coordinator are also available to support the needs of your family. For all the details, please visit our Welcome Center page.

Let’s work together to make this another great school year in Tolleson ESD. Thank you for your ongoing support!

Sincerely,

Dr. Lupita Hightower
