Letter to the Community - October 14, 2024

Dear Tolleson ESD Families & Community,

I hope you had a great fall break! We are back in school today and focused on great teaching and learning. With the holidays and end of calendar year approaching, we are steadfast in our core belief – All Children are Capable of Success: No Exceptions!  Therefore, we want to make every day of learning count!

I need to inform you of an action our governing board approved last Friday. You can view the approved action and letter on our October 11, 2024 Board Agenda.

With the November 5 election less than a month away and early voting starting last week, I want to remind you of the importance of voting. It is so critical to the very essence of our country and democracy. Should you receive questions about our district overrides on the ballot, please refer to our factual sheets posted on our Elections page

We are also hosting “Coffee Talks” at two of our schools to provide information to all our families and community regarding the overrides on the November 5 ballot. Regardless of your child’s school, you can attend either night. Snacks and childcare will be provided:

  • October 16 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Desert Oasis Elementary School, 8802 W. McDowell Road Phoenix, Arizona 85037
  • October 17 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Porfirio H. Gonzales Elementary School, 9401 W. Garfield, Tolleson, Arizona 85353

I also need to share with you our response to false information potentially being spread about our district. I encourage you to read the accurate information, share it, and encourage people who have questions to contact one of our governing board members who are featured on our Governing Board page. We want to be sure everyone has accurate information.

For your convenience, the accurate information regarding several topics and programs can be found in our "Providing Accurate Information to Our Community" news article.

Have a great week ahead, and thank you for all your support of our treasures, families, and each other!

Sincerely,

Dr. Lupita Hightower
Treasure Hunter & Superintendent
