Letter to the Community - November 18, 2024
Dear Tolleson ESD Families & Community,
Thank you to our entire community for your support of the overrides on the November 5 election ballot. Although the election results for Maricopa County are still posted as unofficial, the support of our overrides was very positive, and we are forever grateful. Thank you!
Also, regarding the election results, Ms. Adriana Morado will join our governing board beginning January 1, 2025. Congratulations and welcome back to Ms. Morado, who served previously on our board for 15+ years. We are incredibly grateful for Mr. Anthony Aponte’s dedicated service on our governing board for six years. He did not run for re-election, and his term will end on December 31, 2024. Congratulations to re-elected and returning governing board members Ms. Roberta Garcia and Ms. Belinda Quezada. Ms. Tida Garcia and Mr. Samuel Quezada Jr. are also returning as their terms continue. Thanks to all of you for your hard work and dedicated focus to serving our students, families, staff, and teachers. You are amazing community servants volunteering so many hours to our education community. Thank you!
This is American Education Week, and we celebrate public education! Our Tolleson ESD community is such a huge supporter of our public schools, students, families, staff, and teachers, and we are incredibly grateful to each of you! Thank you!
Please mark your calendars and spread the word for Kindergarten Roundup that will be held the week of January 13 at each of our schools from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The schedule is as follows:
- January 13 – Arizona Desert Elementary School
- January 14 – Desert Oasis Elementary School
- January 15 – Porfirio H. Gonzales Elementary School
- January 16 – Sheely Farms Elementary School
Please share this information with friends, families, and neighbors as we welcome children within and beyond our district boundaries to register for kindergarten for the 2025–2026 school year. Those eligible to enroll will turn five years of age by August 31, 2025. However, children who turn five years of age between September 1 and December 31, 2025, may be eligible through our Kinder Early Entrance Program (KEEP). Forms for enrolling are available at our Welcome Center. You may also call our Welcome Center at 623-533-3980 for questions or additional information. We look forward to enrolling children for the 2025–2026 school year, and we appreciate you spreading the word about our great programs, schools, and kindergarten roundup.
A reminder to you that our schools will be closed next week November 25 through 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
At this time of Thanksgiving, we are grateful for each of you and for your support, and we wish you and your family peace, health, and happiness for the holiday and all throughout the year. Thank you!
