Letter to the Community - December 9, 2024
Dear Tolleson ESD Families & Community,
Thank you to all of you who were able to attend my retirement celebration on Friday. It was fabulous to see you all and celebrate with you. Thank you.
As we approach the end of the 2024 calendar year and look forward to a great 2025, I want to share with you the important events that will take place in January 2025.
Each year, one of our favorite events is kindergarten enrollment as we look to enroll those who will join us for kindergarten for the 2025–2026 school year. It will be held the week of January 13 at each of our schools from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. following this schedule:
- January 13: Arizona Desert Elementary School
- January 14: Desert Oasis Elementary School
- January 15: Porfirio H. Gonzales Elementary School
- January 16: Sheely Farms Elementary School
Those eligible to enroll will turn five years of age by August 31, 2025. However, children who turn five years of age between September 1 and December 31, 2025, may be eligible through our kinder early entrance program (KEEP).
Enrollment information for all grade levels can be found on our Welcome Center page. Please share the link with family, friends, and new neighbors interested in our schools.
January 21-24, 2025, are our academic parent teacher team (APTT) meetings. Please mark your calendar for these important meetings. They are a top priority to ensure we are collaborating on the goals for your child’s learning. The meetings are an important component of our core belief – All Children are Capable of Success: No Exceptions. APTT meetings are also aligned to our strategic plan top priority goal – Intentionally engage parents and caregivers in all aspects of teaching and learning.
On January 20 our schools will be closed in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Thank you for marking your calendar for these important events, and please join us in staying really focused on great teaching and learning these two weeks of school prior to winter break.
We are grateful for your ongoing support of our students, families, staff, and teachers! Thank you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Lupita Hightower
