Letter to the Community - December 19, 2024
Dear Tolleson ESD Families & Community,
It is with gratitude to you all and great confidence in what the future holds for the treasures of our great Tolleson ESD education community, that I write this closing letter to you.
I want to thank you for the community you provide for the students because we know that children grow emotionally, physically, and intellectually through their relationships at home and those throughout their entire community. In my 14 years as your superintendent, I have been blessed to witness a community that supports its children. I am forever grateful.
As a Kids at Hope school district, we are all Treasure Hunters committed to finding the best in every child and providing a community where caring adults have high expectations for students, provide opportunities to succeed, celebrate success, and believe in every child. This commitment is so prevalent in our community, and I am confident it will continue for decades to come because Tolleson ESD education community is full of generations of families committed to each other and to welcoming those who join us. We have such a feeling of fellowship across our community, and I am blessed and honored to have experienced this fellowship with you. Thank you.
The pledges our children and treasure hunters recite each day after the Pledge of Allegiance are written for you here because they so perfectly encapsulate our purpose in public education as I served our Tolleson ESD education community:
- Kids at Hope Pledge - I am a Kid at Hope. I am talented, smart, and capable of success. I have dreams for the future, and I will climb to reach those goals and dreams every day - no exceptions!
- Treasure Hunter's Pledge - As an adult and a Treasure Hunter, I am committed to search for all the talents, skills, and intelligence that exist in all children and youth. I believe that all children are capable of success - no exceptions!
I believe in public education. I believe in you. I am forever grateful to have shared in the commitment to our children along with you, our families, parents, community members, leaders, teachers, and staff. Thank you and bless you.
In closing, please join me in wishing Tolleson ESD’s Superintendent Ms. Gisselle Herrera continued success as she begins in this new role.
Sincerely,
Dr. Lupita Hightower
Forever a Treasure Hunter
