Where Culture, Music & Excellence Meet

The Tolleson Elementary School District Mariachi Program is a nationally recognized ensemble that blends cultural pride with musical excellence. With students performing under the name Los Tigres de Tolleson, the program has earned national attention—most notably performing at the White House for two consecutive years.

From local festivals to live television appearances, our students proudly represent their schools and community, showcasing not only talent, but tradition, discipline, and heart.

Nationally Recognized Program

Our advanced mariachi group, Los Tigres de Tolleson, was invited to perform at the White House Easter Egg Roll—making history as the first kids’ mariachi band to play at our nation’s capital . They also displayed their talent live in the 12 News studio—sharing not just songs, but cultural roots and confidence.

The Teacher Behind the Music

Dr. Efrain  Casillas, Arizona’s 2024 Teacher of the Year, built our district’s first mariachi ensemble and continues to uplift students through relevant music education . His dedication helps students tap into cultural experiences, teamwork, and lifelong learning.

Who Can Join?

The Mariachi Program is open to students interested in music, regardless of experience. Check with your school’s music teacher or front office to get involved.
