Letter to the Community - March 4, 2024

Dear Tolleson ESD Families & Community,

As spring break approaches and we move into the last three months of the school year, I want to be sure to highlight important events and dates.

We held our Kindergarten Enrollment Events in February, and we want to be sure we get all the kindergarteners enrolled for the new school year. The new school year will be here before we know it. Our Welcome Center is here to enroll upcoming kindergarten students. Please spread the word. Children five years of age by August 31 who live within or outside our boundaries should enroll as soon as possible. We welcome all! If your child turns 5 between September 1 and December 31, please ask about our Kinder Early Entrance Program (KEEP). Please call The Welcome Center at 623-533-3980.

Parent Teacher Conferences are Thursday and Friday of this week. However, many of the conferences will even begin today as we work to accommodate everyone’s schedules. Please be sure to call your teacher to schedule if you do not already have a conference time. It is never too late. We will have early release for students on both Thursday and Friday, March 7 and 8.

Additional dates to highlight:

  • March 7 and 27: Job Fairs - We are hiring for all types of positions from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Governing Board Room located at 9261 W. Van Buren, Tolleson, Arizona.
  • March 11–15: Our schools will be closed for spring break.
  • March 29 and April 1: Our schools will be closed for the holiday.
  • End of March and April: Arizona State Department of Education Assessments will take place. We will share more details on those dates soon.
  • May 24: Last day of school for 2023–2024 school year with early release.
  • July 31: First day of school for 2024–2025 school year!

Thank you for being part of our public education community. Although we are champions of public education every day, last week was a special week celebrating public education and it reminds me that I cannot thank you enough for your support, as well as our extraordinary educators!

Sincerely,

Dr. Lupita Hightower
