Letter to the Community - March 28, 2024
Dear Tolleson ESD Families & Community;
As we are approaching Tax Day April 15. I want to share a reminder that there is still time to donate your 2023 Arizona Tax Credit Donation to our students’ extracurricular activities. That is right – you can donate before April 15 and apply it as you file your 2023 taxes. For more information, please visit our website's Tax Credits page.
We are very excited to share our partnership with Arizona State University’s WeGrad Program. WeGrad aims to accelerate the academic success and educational attainment of students. It is a college readiness education program aimed at elevating academic success for K-12 students and families. Families involved will:
- Gain the knowledge, confidence, and tools needed to navigate the system and ensure students are on track for success.
- Discuss college costs, develop scholarship portfolios, and discuss financial aid options.
- Discuss university admissions, degrees, jobs, and careers. This includes understanding high school graduation requirements.
Arizona’s Academic Standard Assessment began March 26 for fifth through eighth grade students and on April 3 for third through eighth grade students. The assessment concludes on April 17 and make-ups completed by April 26. We encourage you to remind your children these assessments are to “show what you know!” They have been working hard all year and are ready. Although it is important to always be well-rested and ready for school, this is especially true during the assessment period. It is a good reminder for us all to eat well, rest well, and shine with confidence as we approach each day and the assessment period. Thanks for your attention to arriving on time to school each day and please avoid scheduling appointments that will take your child from class. It is especially important to avoid interruptions in the classroom.
Just a reminder we will have a brief holiday recess Friday, March 29 and Monday, April 1. School will not be in session those two days. I hope you and your family have a safe and enjoyable weekend!
