![]() The Tolleson Elementary School District No. 17 (TESD) was organized in 1923 and is located in the western portion of the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, about 10 miles west of downtown Phoenix. The District's boundaries encompass an area of 6.25 square miles and serves the children residing in the City of Tolleson, a portion of southwest Phoenix, and the northeast section of the City of Avondale. The student population has increased dramatically over the last five years due to new housing developments located within the District's boundaries. The District has been on the cutting edge in the educational arena. Technology has been and will continue to be vital to our children's education. All classrooms, teachers and administrators have access to the Internet. This has given everyone instant access to unlimited informative resources and the ability to speak to millions of people from different countries and cultures. The District has also implemented a district wide student uniform policy, which has reduced incidents of student discipline, fostered a safe and orderly environment, and has created a positive attitude among the students and staff. The District is very in tune with the needs of the community and provides an annual Parent Academy. This program assists parents in developing effective parenting skills, and helps them understand how they can support their children's education. ![]() As a district we've developed goals that will help us achieve our Mission.
