Letter to the Community - June 27, 2024
Dear Tolleson ESD Families & Community,
I am writing to update you on our summer projects enabled by our most recent bond election thanks to the support of our community. As noted in a recent communication, we recently sold bonds to begin these projects over the summer break.
Here is a list of the projects underway:
Renovations & Improvements
- Arizona Desert Elementary School HVAC structural analysis, permitting, and fencing
- Desert Oasis Elementary School HVAC structural analysis and permitting
- Porfirio H. Gonzales Elementary School HVAC structural analysis and permitting
- Porfirio H. Gonzales Elementary School restroom renovations
- Porfirio H. Gonzales Elementary School weatherization project and painting the school
- Sheely Farms HVAC structural analysis and permitting
School Site Upgrades
- Desert Oasis Elementary School benches and installation
- Desert Oasis Elementary School landscaping turf replacement
- Porfirio H. Gonzales Elementary School exterior upgrades to buildings and playgrounds
- Porfirio H. Gonzales Elementary School upgrades to playground surfaces
Administrative
- Warehouse and maintenance furniture and equipment
In addition, our partners and staff are hard at work to complete the roof project at Porfirio H. Gonzales Elementary School kitchen and cafeteria. We are very hopeful it will be completed by the time school starts, yet we have informed the families of the school that we must await a more detailed project timeline on July 11. If it is not completed, we will continue to use the temporary cafeteria in the gymnasium. We appreciate all our partners, including the City of Tolleson, who are helping to be sure this work is completed as soon as possible. Time has been made up by working longer days and weekends, yet the delivery of supplies has added to the delays.
Thanks to our entire community for your support and patience as we complete all these projects that will vastly improve our learning, working, and transportation environments for our students, families, teachers, and entire staff.
As we wrap up our 2024 summer camp, I want to thank you for allowing us to serve your children. It was a great month of June at camp!
As I look ahead to the 4th of July holiday week, I want to wish you a safe, happy, and fun holiday.
