Letter to the Community - September 18, 2023

Dear Tolleson ESD Families & Community;

The Tolleson Quarterly, our quarterly newsletter that is mailed to all the homes in our district, should have arrived in your mailbox last week, and I am also attaching a link to the newsletter here for your convenience. Our Welcome Center is featured as well as employee honors. I hope you enjoy reading it!

Also included in The Tolleson Quarterly are the frequently asked questions (FAQs) regarding the November election. Tolleson Elementary School District requests to sell bonds to improve, enhance and maintain the campuses, facilities, and transportation for our students and staff. The request to sell $30 million in bonds will be on the ballot for the November 7, 2023, election. The FAQs are posted on our Elections page. I encourage you to review this information.

Please note these dates:

  • September 15 marked the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. We honor and recognize the contributions and influence of Hispanic culture and the role played in shaping our great country.
  • October 5 and 6 are early release days for students as we host parent-teacher conferences. Please mark the date and be sure to attend.
  • Fall break is October 9 through 13, and our schools will be closed during the break.
  • On November 10, our schools will be closed in honor of Veterans Day.
  • November 20 through 24 is fall break and Thanksgiving. Our schools will be closed.

It is hard to believe how quickly fall break is approaching as we are very focused on effective teaching and learning because every day of learning matters. I am grateful for your focus on strong student attendance. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Dr. Lupita Hightower
Treasure Hunter & Superintendent
Tolleson Elementary School District
