Letter to the Community - January 8, 2024

Dear Tolleson ESD Families & Community;

Welcome back to school. I hope your winter break was healthy and happy!

As we kick off the new year, we look forward to honoring our Governing Board at our meeting this Wednesday as it is Governing Board Appreciation Month. We are extremely grateful to our Governing Board for their commitment to our district and their leadership. They donate their time to ensure our students, staff, teachers, and families are at the center of our decision-making and policies. Please join me in thanking them as you see them across our community.

Monday, January 15 is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and we will close our schools in his honor.

Then on Monday, January 22, we kick off our Academic Parent Teacher Team (APTT) meetings. Thank you in advance for ensuring you attend your child’s meeting. These meetings are a top priority to ensure we are collaborating on goal-setting for your child’s learning. The meetings are an important component of our core belief – All Children are Capable of Success: No Exceptions. We also align APTT meetings with our Strategic Plan Top Priority Goal to intentionally engage parents and caregivers in all aspects of teaching and learning.

I look forward to a great year in our Tolleson ESD education community! Thank you for being part of it!

Sincerely,

Dr. Lupita Hightower
Treasure Hunter & Superintendent
Tolleson Elementary School District
